Guide Plug-in transmitter with housing

With our plug-in transmitters with housing, the temperature measurement signal can be transmitted safely, easily and over long distances to the control system or systems. You will find suitable Sun Protection and cables in our accessories.

You will find the most important information in the following guide

  1. What is a transmitter?

  2. What are plug-in transmitters with housing and what are they used for?

  3. What types of plug-in transmitters with housing are there and what are the differences between them?

  4. How are plug-in transmitters with housing installed and used?

  5. What are the advantages of plug-in transmitters with housings compared to other types of transmitter systems?

  6. What features and specifications should be considered when choosing a plug-in transmitter?

What is a transmitter?

They are also known as measuring transducers, transducers, signal converters or simply converters. They are used to convert physical measured variables such as temperature, humidity, differential pressure etc. into standardized electrical signals.

In the case of a temperature transmitter, the measured variable to be converted is temperature.

The input signal is a resistance value for resistance-based temperature probes and a voltage value for thermocouples. The output signal is usually either 0 ... 10 V or 4 ... 20 mA. Historically, however, there are also 0-1 V / 0-5 V or 0-20 mA signals.

What are plug-in transmitters with housing and what are they used for?

Our plug-in transmitters with housing can be mounted in pipes or similar by using an immersion sleeve or mounting flange. They measure the temperature and output it as a standardized signal (4 - 20 mA or 0 - 10 V).

What types of plug-in transmitters are there and what are the differences between them?

We offer different plug-in transmitters with housings. There are housings with quick-release screws and housings with snap-on lids. Here you will find our standard version with snap-on cover housing, our high version with quick-release screws and the high version with display, each with 4-20 mA and 0-10 V output.

The Pt1000 class B sensor is installed in the active temperature probes and you can choose between an output of 4 to 20 mA or 0 to 10 V. The measuring insert is permanently installed.

Configuration of the articles
We offer the following mounting lengths for our standard variant and the variant with display: 50 mm, 100 mm, 150 mm, 200 mm, 250 mm

How are plug-in temperature transmitters with housing installed and used?

Our plug-in transmitters can be installed in the process with a mounting flange or with a compression fitting.

Installation using a mounting flange: Please ensure that the Ø of the mounting flange matches the Ø of the protection sleeve.

Mounting by using an immersion sleeve: Please ensure that the Ø and length of the immersion sleeve are selected to suit the installation situation so that the minimum immersion depth can be achieved. Because the probe is not inserted directly into the medium, but via the immersion sleeve, the response times are somewhat slower. The probe should be selected so that the protection sleeve touches the bottom of the immersion sleeve and the air cushion around the protection tube is as small as possible. The use of thermal conduction paste can improve the response times.

What are the advantages of plug-in transmitters compared to other types of transmitter systems?

Plug-in temperature transmitters have many advantages, such as accurate measurement, easy installation and integration into existing systems, high durability and reliability.

What features and specifications should be considered when selecting a plug-in transmitter with housing?

Factors such as measuring range, output signal, power supply and environmental conditions should be considered when selecting an outdoor transmitter. With our DIP switches, you have a choice of eight measuring ranges. The Pt1000 class B sensor is used for temperature measurement.

We offer a 0-10 V voltage output and a 4-20 mA current output. The ambient temperature of the transmitter is between -30 °C and +70 °C. The voltage supply is 24 V AC ⁄ DC (± 10 %) for the voltage version and 15 - 36 V DC for the current version.
