Guide Transmitter with external temperature probe

With our transmitters with external cable probe, the temperature measurement signal can be transmitted safely, easily and over long distances to the control system or systems.

You will find the most important information in the following guide

  1. What is a transmitterr?

  2. What are measuring transducers with an external cable probe and what are they used for?

  3. What types of measuring transducers with an external cable probe are there and what are the differences between them?

  4. How are transmitters with an external cable probe installed and used?

  5. What are the advantages of external cable probe transmitters compared to other types of transmitter systems?

  6. What features and specifications should be considered when choosing a transmitter with an external cable probe?

What is a transmitter?

They are also known as, transducers, signal converters or simply converters. They are used to convert physical measured variables such as temperature, humidity, differential pressure etc. into standardized electrical signals.

In the case of a temperature transducer, the measured variable to be converted is temperature.

The input signal is a resistance value for resistance-based temperature probes and a voltage value for thermocouples. The output signal is usually either 0 ... 10 V or 4 ... 20 mA. Historically, however, there are also 0-1 V / 0-5 V or 0-20 mA signals.

What are transmitters with an external cable probe and what are they used for?

The housing of our transmitter can be mounted using the drilling template. The cable probe can be mounted in pipes or similar by using an immersion sleeve or a compression fitting. They measure the temperature and output it as a standardized signal (4 - 20mA or 0 - 10 V).

What types of transmitters with an external cable probe are there and what are the differences between them?

We offer different transmitters with an external cable probe. You will find our standard version and our version with display, each with 4-20 mA and 0-10 V output.

The Pt1000 class B sensor is installed in the active temperature probes.

Configuration of the articles

You can choose between a cable gland or an M12 connector.

How are transmitters with an external cable probe installed and used?

Our housing transmitters can be mounted in the required location using the drilling template.

Our external cable probe can be mounted in the process with a mounting flange or with a compression fitting.

Mounting using a mounting flange: Please ensure that the Ø of the mounting flange matches the Ø of the protection sleeve.

Mounting by using an immersion sleeve: Please ensure that the Ø and length of the immersion sleeve are selected to suit the installation situation so that the minimum immersion depth can be achieved. Because the probe is not inserted directly into the medium, but via the immersion sleeve, the response times are somewhat slower. The probe should be selected so that the protection sleeve touches the bottom of the immersion sleeve and the air cushion around the protection tube is as small as possible. The use of thermal conduction paste can improve the response times..

What are the advantages of transmitters with an external cable probe compared to other types of transmitter systems?

Transmitters with an external cable probe have many advantages, such as accurate measurement, easy installation and integration into existing systems, high durability and reliability.

What features and specifications should be considered when selecting a transmitter with an external cable probe?

Factors such as measuring range, output signal, power supply and environmental conditions should be considered when selecting an external transmitter. With our DIP switches, you have a choice of eight measuring ranges. The Pt1000 class B sensor is used for temperature measurement.

We offer a 0-10 V voltage output and a 4-20 mA current output. The ambient temperature of the transmitter is between -30 °C and +70 °C. The voltage supply is 24 V AC ⁄ DC (± 10 %) for the voltage version and 15 - 36 V DC for the current version.
